Plans have been submitted for a post-16 school for young people with complex special educational needs in the centre of Rushden.
The proposal is for it to be run by WiEducate, who run specialist post-16 provision for young people with an Education Health and Care Plan. Their plan is to provide tailored learning for up to 50 learners.
The new building will be in the Conservation Area in High Street South, directly opposite the entrance to Hall Park. It is on the site of a former historic farmhouse. It had been derelict for a number of years and the main building has now been demolished.
The outbuilding adjacent to the footpath has recently been a problem for travellers. There was a risk of tiles sliding off the roof onto pedestrians.
Emergency traffic restrictions had been in place and caused significant delays, until the roof was made safe.
