Saturday 5th of September was Rushden’s annual Proms Night.
Hundreds came to hear the Rushden Town Band, who gave their usual enthusiastic performance inspiring the audience to wave their flags.
The first half of the performance was a series of tunes recalling the closures of the coal mines.
In the second half, the Band played the traditional tunes of the Last Night of the Proms.
The Town Mayor, Cllr. Janet Pinnock, thanked everyone for coming and promised that all the profits would go to her chosen charity.
The evening ended with Land of Hope and Glory.
Rushden Town Band took first place in the Midland Area Regional Brass Band Championships 2026 at Bedworth on Saturday 7th March. Solo cornet player – Matt Freestone – also won best instrumentalist of the section. The band now goes on to the National Finals in September at York Barbican.
At the National Brass Band Finals in York, the band will compete with all the other First Section bands from around the country representing Rushden and Northamptonshire for the coveted title of First Section National Champion.
