The Rushden Feast is an annual historic fun fair dating back over 150 years. It used to be held on the Saturday following 19th September, but over the years that has moved, as this year it started on 10th September.
Historically it marked the holiday week for the town’s shoe factory workers.
It is now held in Spencer Park, but only moved there in 1913 when Spencer Park opened.
It has been run for decades by John Thurston and Son and his forefathers.
Charles Thurston initially brought his attractions to Rushden in 1904 and then petitioned the Council to allow it to move to Spencer Park in 1913.
The Feast has a strong civic link with a traditional opening next to the dodgems. This year it was officially opened by the Rushden Town Mayor, Cllr. Janet Pinnock.
A short service also took place run by Rev Mark Duggan, the Minister of Park Road Baptist Church.
This year the Feast was bigger than ever, with more huge high-adrenaline rides and more excitement than ever. The busiest day is always the Thursday, as that is when the rides are half price.
