On 9th December 2025, Raunds Town Council voted to upgrade their town’s CCTV network.
The towns that were previously within the former East Northamptonshire Council area run their own CCTV networks. This includes Raunds, Rushden, Higham Ferrers and Irthlingborough, whereas other towns in the area have the CCTV network operated and paid for by North Northamptonshire Council.
This is a clear anomaly and will have to be addressed at some point. It is not realistic to have residents of the East Northants towns paying for the local CCTV network through the Town Council precept, while residents of the other North Northants towns do not.
