NNC proposes charging for car parking in Wellingborough and Rushden, in car parks where it is currently free.
On Saturday, 12th September, in Wellingborough, there was a public meeting to protest against the charges. It was at Jackson’s Lane car park and had support from a variety of groups.
Several disabled people made the effort to get there to show their support.
Cars hooted in support as they drove past.
This follows from a similar protest neeting at the same place, to protest against the potential selling off of this same Jackson’s Lane Car Park. The result of that was that NNC agreed to sell only part of the land and keep some as a car park. However, their plan is now to charge for parking at this car park.
