Rushden’s ComicCon

The 2nd Rushden ComicCon was held on Saturday 7th March 2026. It was an outstanding achievement by the staff of the library, given that they had a break-in only a few weeks earlier (on 12th February).

Unlike the original ComicCon, there was no scramble for tickets, because it was free to enter with free parking nearby.

Overall, the event was another stunning success. According to the staff, over 1,000 visitors came to enjoy the stalls and displays.

Once again, the event attracted multiple Doctor Whos, plus a half-size Tardis and a full-size K9.

Among the Doctor Who fans at the event, there was a lively debate about the involvement of the Disney Corporation in running/funding the franchise. No consensus emerged (and it’s now moot, as Disney have dropped out.)

There was a temporary stage, with performances from 11am until 3pm. Among the performances were

  • Songs (by Castle Arts) from Dogman, Pokeman, Stranger Things, Percy Jackson, The Addams Family, Beetlejuice
  • Games competitions
  • Quizzes
  • Cosplay competition
  • Kos Musical performed excerpts from Disney’s “Little Mermaid”

The Rushden Library is a historic building. It was originally built with funding from Andrew Carnegie, the American philanthropist. (If it isn’t Listed, it should be.)

Mr. Carnegie would have been pleased to see that his library for Rushden is still in active use after 121 years.
