The Rushden Youth Hub, a vital service for young people in the town, is set to undergo a major expansion after successfully securing a £25,000 grant from the National Lottery Community Fund. The funding will be used to refurbish their current premises and expand the range of activities they offer.
The Hub, located near the town centre, provides a safe and supportive space for over 100 young people aged 11-18 each week. The planned works include creating a dedicated music and podcasting studio, upgrading the IT suite with new computers, and installing a modern kitchen for life-skills cooking classes.
Youth leader, Karen Holloway, was ecstatic about the news. “This is a game-changer for us and for the young people of Rushden,” she said. “This funding will allow us to create a truly first-class facility and offer new, creative opportunities that our members have been asking for. It will help them learn new skills, build confidence, and have fun in a positive environment.”
Fifteen-year-old Ben, who has been attending the Hub for two years, added, “It’s brilliant news. I’m really excited about the music studio. The Hub is a great place to come and hang out with your mates, and this will make it even better.”
