On Wednesday 18th February 2026, it was disclosed that two councillors on North Northants Council had defected from Reform UK to a newly formed political party, Restore Britain.
Cllr. Jack Goncalvez, who represents the Rushden Lakes ward at NNC, and Cllr Darren Rance, who represents Wellingborough’s Brickhill and Queensway ward, chose to cross the floor to join Restore Britain.
Restore Britain, led by Rupert Lowe, was launched in June 2025, as a pressure group. It was registered as a political party on 13th February 2026, just days before this defection. Two days after joining Restore Britain, Cllr. Rance announced that he was leaving the party because it is “more sinister than he first thought”. He appears to have returned to the Reform UK group.
