Jacksons Lane Car Park

On Tuesday 17th February 2026, Reform-led North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive Committee declared Jackson’s Lane Car Park surplus to requirements and delegated authority to an officer to arrange its sale.

On Saturday 28th February, a protest meeting opposing this decision was held in the car park.

On Tuesday 3rd March, a proposal was put to Wellingborough Town Council that it should oppose the sale of the entire car park.  As a compromise, WTC voted to support selling the southern extension of the car park at Derek Hooton Way.

It now appears that NNC may accept WTC’s proposed compromise.

There has been strong local opposition to the sale of the car park.  Last month, Nene Herald conducted a survey to discover the level of support for the sale of the Jacksons Lane car park. Of those who responded, 90% opposed the sale, with just 3% supporting it.
