Street markets of all sorts are under pressure.




Supermarkets are scooping up most of the convenience sales (food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc). At the other end, the online retailers are taking a large chunk of the comparison good sales (clothing, DIY supplies, white goods, televisions, video gear, etc).
It is therefore pleasing to see traditional outlets still surviving.
The Higham Farmers’ Market is still keeping old traditions alive that create a community event. It is held on the last Sunday of each month throughout the year (except for Christmas week, when it is the last-but-one Sunday).
