Classic Car Show Draws Thousands to High Street for a Nostalgic Afternoon

Rushden’s High Street was transformed into a gallery of automotive history last Sunday for the first-ever “Rushden Wheels” classic car show. An estimated crowd of over two thousand people enjoyed the sunshine as more than 50 vintage vehicles were put on display for the public to admire.

The event, sponsored by local business Kingtools, was a roaring success, attracting enthusiasts from across the county. 1 Highlights included a pristine 1964 Jaguar E-Type, a beautifully restored 1958 Morris Minor, and a powerful Ford Mustang from 1969. Owners proudly stood by their vehicles, sharing stories of restoration and adventure with curious visitors.

John Miller, who brought his 1972 MGB GT, said, “It’s been a brilliant day. To see so many people, young and old, appreciating these cars is what it’s all about. The organizers have done a fantastic job.”

Mayor Gill Mercer awarded the “Best in Show” trophy, provided by PW House, to a gleaming red Austin-Healey 3000. 1 “The turnout has been fantastic, and it has brought a real buzz to the town centre,” she said. “Events like this showcase the passion within our community and create a wonderful family atmosphere.” Organizers are already in talks to make “Rushden Wheels” an annual event.
