Loosey-Goosey Snack Bar

During the Covid Lockdown, the nightlife of our Towns was severely damaged. Even now, half a decade later, it has not recovered. Drive through the Town centres in the evening and it is eerily quiet, compared with ten years ago.

This has hurt our local economies, but the damage goes much deeper. Pubs, clubs, restaurants and theatres are where people socialise.

With fewer people going out in the evening, society as a whole is damaged. People meet less often, they get fewer chances to make new friends, and they become more isolated.

Further, the night-time destinations are where many young people get their first jobs, and an opportunity to enter the workforce. There are fewer jobs, and especially fewer entry-level jobs.

The Welcome Inn in Rushden’s Irchester Road was one of those destinations that suffered under the lockdown. There were celebrations when it managed to re-open.

With that history, it is pleasing to see that not only is it open-for-business, but that it has spawned another new business.

The Loosey-Goosey bar is sat in the Welcome Inn’s car park and offering snacks and more.
