Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is when the country remembers those who gave their lives in the wars of the last century and this one.

In Rushden, around three thousand people came out to watch the parade and to join in the Service of Remembrance.

When the two-minute silence was called, all three thousand became silent.

Dozens of wreathes were laid, starting with a Deputy Lord Lieutenant, followed by Rushden’s Town Mayor, Cllr. Gill Mercer, Gen Kitchen MP, and many others representing groups and organisations within the town paying their respects to the fallen.

In Wellingborough, a similar event took place. Wreathes were laid by a different Deputy Lord Lieutenant, and Wellingborough’s Town Mayor, Cllr. Raj Mishra, followed by Cllr. Martin Griffiths, the Leader of North Northants Council and Cllr. Paul Bell, the Leader of the Town Council. Many others then laid wreathes.
