Soon after the local election results, Reform UK chairman, Zia Yusuf, said:
“Reform-controlled English councils will move at speed to resolve that the only flags permitted to be flown on or in its buildings will be the Union Jack and St George’s flag”.
This was later amended to:
“Reform UK will proudly fly the Union Jack, St George’s flag and county flags.”
Reform-controlled North Northants Council (NNC) and West Northants Council (WNC) have both adopted this policy.
It will have the effect of banning from council buildings, any flags recognising the Royal British Legion and other organisations.
The attached photo shows NNC’s Thrapston site earlier this year. It shows the Council flying the flag of Ukraine, in support of that country’s struggle against the Russian invasion.
Under the new ruling, the Ukrainian flag can presumably no longer be flown.
